(DIP) OBAMA CONGRATULATES TURKEY ON REPUBLIC DAY.


WASHINGTON, Nov 1, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- U.S. President Barack Obama has released a statement on the 86th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey.

"The people of the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  join the people of Turkey in celebrating the anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey," Obama said in his statement.

"The friendship between our nation is strong, and our alliance is enduring. More than fifty years ago, the United States and Turkey began a partnership based on shared values and mutual respect ? a partnership and friendship that has deepened over the years as we have overcome many shared challenges," he said.

"Turkish-Americans help to forge the bonds that join our nations in friendship, and they continue to contribute to our society, in a wide range of field including arts, athletics athletics
