(DIP) FBI CHIEF HOLDS TALKS IN TURKEY ON COUNTER-TERRORISM.


ANKARA, Nov 18, 2009 (TUR) -- Robert S. Mueller, head of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), division of the U.S. Dept. of Justice charged with investigating all violations of federal laws except those assigned to some other federal agency. , FBI, held talks on fight against terrorism in the Turkish capital Ankara, the U.S. Embassy said on Wednesday.

Mueller met with Turkish officials, including State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister A Deputy Prime Minister or Vice Prime Minister is, in some countries, a government minister who can take the position of acting Prime Minister when the real Prime Minister is temporarily absent.  Cemil Cicek, Justice Minister Sadullah Ergin and Director-General of Security The Director-General of Security is the executive officer of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO), the domestic security agency of Australia. The Director-General, through the Organisation, has overall responsibility for the protection of the country and its  Oguz Kagan Koksal, the embassy said in a statement.

Mueller was in Ankara for talks on Turkish-U.S. cooperation regarding fight against terrorism and implementation of laws, the statement said, adding that Turkey was an important partner of the United States in global fight against terrorism. It said the U.S. government strongly supported Turkey's efforts to eradicate terrorist organization PKK.

The statement said that U.S. government was willing to exchange views with Turkey for a closer and more effective cooperation on joint fight against terrorism and criminals.
