(DIP) CHIEF NEGOTIATOR BAGIS BEGINS TALKS IN STRASBOURG.STRASBOURG, Oct 20, 2009 (TUR) -- Turkish State Minister and Chief Negotiator for EU talks Egemen Bagis met with the President of the European Court of Human Rights European Court of Human Rights: see Council of Europe. (ECHR ECHR European Court of Human Rights ECHR European Convention on Human Rights ECHR Exact Cell Hit Ratio ) Jean-Paul Costa on Tuesday as part of his talks in Strasbourg. Bagis and Costa discussed Turkey's reforms made regarding human rights and democracy and applications filed with the ECHR from Turkey. Bagis and Costa also discussed a protocol that would ease the working mechanism of the court. Egemen Bagis later met with the Deputy Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee See also United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations The Foreign Affairs Committee is one of many Select Committees of the British House of Commons, which scrutinises the work of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. of the European Parliament, Fiorello Provera, and EP Turkey Rapporteur Ria Oomen Rujiten. During these separate meetings, Bagis, Provera and Rujiten discussed Turkey's EU negotiations and the Progress Report published by the EU Commission last week. Bagis will continue to hold meetings in Strasbourg on Tuesday. He will come together with various European leaders, including President of the European Parliament The President of the European Parliament presides over the debates and activities of the European Parliament.
