(CUL) TURKISH PRODIGY PIANIST ENCHANTS SLOVAKIA MUSIC FEST.BRATISLAVA, Jul 6, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- The 12-year-old Turkish prodigy pianist Mertol Demirelli took stage at the Bratislava Music Festival and captivated the audience. Demirelli performed on Sunday at the festival which was jointly organized by Turkish Embassy in Bratislava and Bratislava Culture & Information Center. Demirelli gave a recital at the Primacialny Palace, beginning with Johannes Sebastian Bach's "The Weil Tempered Clavier No.21 and Prelude and Fugue". His performance went on with Beethoven's "Sonate 8", Mendelssohn's "Rondo rondo (rŏn`dō, rŏndō`), instrumental musical form in which the opening section is repeated after each succeeding section containing contrasting thematic material. The complex rondeau of French keyboard music of the 17th cent. Capricioso" and Chopin's "Nocturne nocturne (nŏk`tûrn) [Fr.,=night piece], in music, romantic instrumental piece, free in form and usually reflective or languid in character. John Field wrote the first nocturnes, influencing Chopin in the writing of his 19 nocturnes for piano. No:9 and Etude". At the end of his recital, Demirelli returned to the stage after strong applause and enthusiastic call and he played Turkish composer Ulvi Cemal Erkin's "Senfonietta" which was adapted to piano by him. The Turkish prodigy was given a standing ovation at the end. Mertol Demirelli began his music studies when he was 4 years old. He won his first international award, IBLA IBLA Interior Board of Land Appeals IBLA Inter-american Bibliographical and Library Association Grand Prize (in Italy,) at the age of 8. He has given several concerts in Turkey and many European cities over the past few years.
