(CUL) PERUVIAN TENOR TO TAKE STAGE IN TURKISH CITY.


ISTANBUL, Jun 17, 2009 (TUR) -- A Peruvian operatic tenor will give a resital in a Turkish city on Thursday.

Peru's tenor Juan Diego Florez will take stage at the Hagia Eirini Museum in the Turkish city of Istanbul as a part of the 37th Istanbul International Music Festival The Istanbul International Music Festival, formerly Istanbul Festival, (Turkish: Uluslararası İstanbul Müzik Festivali) is a cultural event held every June and July in Istanbul, Turkey.  taking place between June 5 and 30.

Florez is considered as the successor of world-famous Italian operatic tenor Luciano Pavarotti.

Borusan Istanbul Philarmonic Orchestra of Turkey, conducted by Alessandro Vitiello, will perform together with Florez.

British music magazine BBC Music has shown Florez among the "top 20 tenors of all times."

Born in Lima, Peru, Florez studied at the National Conservatory of Music National Conservatory of Music may refer to:

Florez broke tradition at Milan's La Scala, giving the first ancore after 75 years, with the famous nine high C's aria, "Ah mes Amis" from "The Daughter of the Regiment" (La fille du rgiment) in 2007. The same happened at the Metropolitan Opera in 2008, in the same opera.

Juan Diego Florez has received many prizes and decorations including Rossini d'Oro, Aureliano Pertile, Francesco Tamagno, L'Opera Award, Bellini's and ISO d'Oro.
