(CUL) MERSIN TO HOST OPERA SINGERS FROM TURKISH SPEAKING COUNTRIES.


MERSIN Mersin (mĕrsĭn`), formerly Içel (ēchĕl`), city (1990 pop. 420,750), capital of Içel prov., S Turkey, on the Mediterranean Sea. , Sep 22, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- Turkish southern province of Mersin will host a free concert of opera singers from nine Turkish speaking countries on Thursday, September 24.

Organized by the Mersin State Opera and Ballet (MDOB), the concert will take place within the framework of the "12th Joint Administration of Turkic Arts and Culture, or TURKSOY, Opera Days".

One opera singer from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Bashkortostan, Hakasia, Tataristan, Gagauzia and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC TRNC Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus ) will perform in Mersin on Thursday.

The singers will perform again in Girne, TRNC on September 27 and later in Istanbul with the participation of the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet.

The concert in Mersin will take place on the 500th anniversary of a Kazakh Epic "Kiz Jibek".
