(CUL) JOHN MALKOVICH RECEIVES HONORARY AWARD IN ISTANBUL FILM FESTIVAL.


ISTANBUL, Apr 11, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- The International Istanbul Film Festival honored U.S. actor, producer and director John Malkovich with "a cinema honorary award".

During the ceremony at an Istanbul movie theater, Malkovich said that he was honored to be invited to the festival, and thanked for the warm welcome.

Malkovich also said he was proud to receive the award.

The 28th International Istanbul Film Festival began on April 4, and will end on April 19.

The International Istanbul Film Festival was first presented as a film week in the summer of 1982, within the framework of the International Istanbul Festival. In 1984, the event became a separate activity and started to take place in April.

In 1985, two competitive sections, one national and the other international, were included in the Festival program. Accredited accredited
