(CUL) INTERNATIONAL CLASSICAL MUSIC FESTIVAL BEGINS IN AEGEAN RESORT.


BODRUM, Jul 23, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- An international classical music festival began in the Aegean resort town of Bodrum on Wednesday.

The 5th International D-Marin Turgutreis Classical Music Festival opened with a concert of Turkish pianist Fazil Say and composer and Moldovan violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja.

The Izmir State Symphonic Orchestra accompanied the pianist and the violinist.

First Kopatchinskaja then Say took stage during the concert.

Kopatchinskaja studied composition and violin in Vienna and Bern. Her recital-CD with Fazil Say (Naive) won the Excellentia Award of the Magazine "Pizzicato pizzicato (pĭt'səkä`tō), in music, the technique of plucking the strings of an instrument that is usually bowed. Directions for playing pizzicato are found in early 17th-century music. " (Luxembourg) and as well as the ECHO-Klassik award 2009.

Patricia Kopatchinskaja has worked with many leading orchestras including Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Vienna Symphonic Orchestra, Wiener Kammerorchester, Mozarteum-Orchester Salzburg, Deutsches Symphonieorchester Berlin, SWR-Radiosymphonieorchester Stuttgart, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, Wurttembergisches Kammerorchester, Mahler Chamber Orchestra The Mahler Chamber Orchestra [1] is a professional touring chamber orchestra founded by Claudio Abbado and former members of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra in 1997.

The MCO appears throughout the year in about 60-70 concerts and performances.
