(CUL) CARLOS SANTANA TO PERFORM IN ISTANBUL ON JULY 6.ISTANBUL, Mar 31, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- Grammy Award The Grammy Awards (originally called the Gramophone Awards) are presented annually by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the United States for outstanding achievements in the record industry. The current President of the Academy is Neil Portnow. winning guitarist Carlos Santana will give a concert in Istanbul on July 6. The concert will take place at Istanbul's Turkcell Kurucesme Arena under the 18th International Istanbul Music Festival. Tickets will be available through Biletix beginning from the second half of April. Born July 20, 1947, in Autlan de Navarro, Mexico, Santana learned to play the guitar at age 8. He won 13 Grammy Awards Grammy Awards Annual awards given by the Recording Academy (officially the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences). The first Grammies (the name is a dimunitive of “gramophone”) were given in 1958. during his 50-year career.
