'You can't eat gold, but you can sure eat Pez'.

Eduard Haas Eduard Haas III (born 1897 ) developed PEZ candy.

Haas was born near Vienna, Austria. Haas was born into a rich family—his grandfather being a doctor and his father owning a successful grocery store.
III first established PEZ on the food market as "refresher lozenges" with a slogan: "Smoking prohibited--Pezing allowed"--the sweets were first seen as a great help for giving up smoking. The big international PEZ breakthrough came in 1950, the year the celebrated PEZ dispenser made its first appearance. Eduard Haas III developed the PEZ Dispenser together with cigarette lighter inventor UXA UXA United Experiments of America (band) , borrowing the PEZ functional principle from spring-operated pistol magazines.

took Eduard Haas III to the US in 1953 and he was quick to notice that every American is a potential PEZ customer. He coined the following phrase: "You can't eat gold, but you can sure eat PEZ."

PEZ is available today in the delicious strawberry, lemon, orange, cherry, cola and sour mix Sour mix is a mixer used in many cocktails, notably the Long Island Iced Tea family. It is made from approximately equal parts lemon and/or lime juice and simple syrup and shaken vigorously with ice. This produces a pearly-white liquid with a pronounced flavour.  flavours. The unmistakable shape of the PEZ bonbon candies has not changed since 1927, while PEZ has changed from being a cult brand for collectors to a cool brand for kids.

Joseph Vittoria, on the executive board at PEZ Group, said: "There is now an enormous community of PEZ collectors around the world, they not only know everything about the company, but they are almost fanatical about collecting and swapping the dispensers. "This philosophy has turned PEZ into a true cult brand over the years. A big role has been played by the PEZ Gift Sets. They have been a huge success on the market in the USA--Hello Kitty or Star Wars varieties are two outstanding examples."

To mark its 80th birthday, PEZ is promoting a unique charity campaign. The company will start by producing an exclusive Mickey Mouse Mickey Mouse
