BRIAN McFadden is facing police action in Australia after allegedly exchanging sinister threats with a schizophrenic Twitter stalker.

The former Westlife singer is believed to be infuriated that fiance Delta Goodrem is being harassed by a cyber stalker who has threatened to harm them.

They were alarmed when the individual chillingly began discussing murder and rape on his Twitter page and then bombarded Brian with a flurry of abuse.

The celebrity couple have called in security experts fearing he could attack them at any time. But now McFadden, 29, could be facing an investigation after allegedly goading the culprit. He wrote yesterday: "You are close to harm! I have your address and if something unfortunate happens to you I will be very sad! Be careful."

The stalker, who calls himself Saviour Mankind, has professed his love and "ownership" of Goodrem.

It is feared McFadden, from Dublin, an avid Twitter user, has fuelled the exchange by responding to threatening messages.

As the couple flew out of Sydney on a charity tour, Saviour Mankind was talking of murder and rape on a Twitter stream that has alarmed Goodrem's fans and prompted them to threaten a restraining order.

Fearing comment from Goodrem, 24, and McFadden would further provoke the Twitter stalker, Goodrem's publicist yesterday said the singer's management team was dealing quietly with the issue.

Jennifer Fontaine added: "We're very much aware of this matter but we've been advised to not make any comment at this time. We have security looking at it."

But a security source in Melbourne said Brian was now under the spotlight too after threatening the individual.

The source added: "Brian has made a big mistake because he's posted a message on his own Twitter page insinuating he could cause some kind of sinister harm to this person.

"It could even be interpreted as a death threat. The police will have to look at it." In one of the many exchanges, the anti-semitiSaviour Mankind asks McFadden: "How do you explain that Delta lets me follow her and you don't?"

On one website, Saviour Mankind said he is schizophrenic and hears voices but still believes himself to be a messianic figure and thinks Jesus was probably also schizophrenic.

He also included in a letter to the Irish singer: "Brian you are Jewish leave Delta immediately, if you do not leave we will return to the days of Spanish Inquisitions, how did it end for them? You are lucky we don't have the death penalty in Australia."
