FOR Your Eyes Only will open just 10 yards from St John's Church in Cardiff city centre.

Elderly churchgoer Bill John, of Heath, Cardiff, said: "It's the sort of thing we could do without so close to the church.

"It's hopeless as it is with all the music, drinking and dancing round here."

According to FYEO's licence from Cardiff council, total nudity will be allowed on stage and designated booths, though full-body contact between dancers and customers will be banned.

Mr John said: "This development should be down the bottom end of St Mary Street."

However, the Church Army's Sister Wendy Sanderson, who is based at St John's and tasked with engaging Cardiff's clubbing community, said FYEO would not affect the church. "It makes no difference to me because we are there to support people within that culture," she said.

FYEO manager Scott Smith insisted the club would be subtle and discreet. "There's a double-door entrance and it leads underground so you can't see in," he said.
