"I've been trying to tell this story a long time," former Vice President Al Gore Noun 1. Al Gore - Vice President of the United States under Bill Clinton (born in 1948)
Albert Gore Jr., Gore
says near the beginning of "An Inconvenient in·con·ven·ient

Truth." "I feel that if I fail to get the message across ..."

Hollywood showed it has heard him loud and clear. Director Davis Guggenheim's film about Gore's long commitment to environmentalism environmentalism, movement to protect the quality and continuity of life through conservation of natural resources, prevention of pollution, and control of land use.  and his traveling slide show about global warming global warming, the gradual increase of the temperature of the earth's lower atmosphere as a result of the increase in greenhouse gases since the Industrial Revolution.  was named best documentary feature Sunday at the 79th annual Academy Awards.

Guggenheim jumped to his feet and waved Gore to get up with him as he bounded toward the stage. "I made this movie for my children," Guggenheim said, adding that everyone involved in making it "did so because we were moved to act by this man."

Although the prize belongs to the filmmakers, Gore, its star who took no producer credit, clearly savored the win and used the moment to spread his message a little further.

"My fellow Americans, people of the world, we need to solve the climate crisis," he said.

"An Inconvenient Truth" centers on Gore presenting his PowerPoint-augmented lecture on the effects of fossil fuel fossil fuel: see energy, sources of; fuel.

The award presentation was Gore's second moment on the Oscars stage, having earlier appeared with Leonardo DiCaprio Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio (born November 11 1974[1]) is a three-time Academy Award-nominated and Golden Globe Award-winning American actor who garnered world wide fame for his role as Jack Dawson in Titanic.  to announce that this was the first Academy Awards ceremony to be "green," meaning its organizers made ecologically sound choices in energy use, food products, disposable goods, recycling and other aspects of production.

Gore, who ran for president in the close race of 2000, has more or less denied he would run for president again in 2008, but he was game to toy with his audience on the subject. When DiCaprio asked him whether he had anything he wished to announce, Gore teased tease
