Shaikh Hassan, also known as "Shake," thinks that playing a part in the running of the Al Rashid Group by day and living the life of a rock star by night is a healthy balance for him.

The album was recorded at London's Livingstone Studios by producer Nick Caffrey and features the musical work of bassist Russell Milton, ex-Neneh Cherry band guitarist Charlie Casey and drummer Ian Markin.

The band's debut effort has been described as "a classy collection of classic, timeless rock oriented songs," and is largely shy of any Arabic influence.

However, Shake didn't rule out the possibility of using Arabian instruments in their future work.

"I think the next album we do is going to go more like our song Travel Man though, which is our second single," said Shake.

"We all have different influences, some of the guys like reggae or Prince.

"I like Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd and we all bring these kinds of elements and it just kind of moulds into what we are right now.

Shake also said that his decision to live as rock star royalty hasn't adversely affected his relationship with Bahrain's ruling family, and that pursuing his musical dream reflected the country's acceptance of newer ideas.

"Growing up it was just a normal Bahraini household and all my cousins are just really down to earth," he said.

"We do understand our tradition and culture and we respect that and we try to keep it but also its changing so people can 'get' into different things which before weren't normal, but now they're accepted.
