'Quigg gig ad mislead his fans' MUSIC.

AN appearance by X Factor's Eoghan Quigg was accused of being a pop flop yesterday for misleading fans.

The Advertising Standards Authority The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) is the independent British self regulatory organisation (SRO) of the advertising industry. The ASA is a non-statutory organisation and so cannot interpret or enforce legislation.  for Ireland upheld a complaint by a disgruntled fan who said the advertisement for the gig promised Quigg would "perform all his favourite hits live at this special allages show" with a support band and DJ on the night.

The complainant A plaintiff; a person who commences a civil lawsuit against another, known as the defendant, in order to remedy an alleged wrong. An individual who files a written accusation with the police charging a suspect with the commission of a crime and providing facts to support the allegation  said the ad was misleading because the teenager played for just 21 minutes and the rest of the night was a teenage disco for three hours.

 said advertisers didn't respond to the fan when she tried to complain.

It added: "If a performer appeared for a limited time as described by the complainant, then it may have been more appropriate to advertise him as making a guest appearance." Irish Mirror Comment: Page 10
