'Organic' personal care standard adopted.NSF NSF - National Science Foundation International's "NSF/ANSI 305: Made with Organic Personal Care Products" has been adopted as a national standard in the U.S., allowing for labeling and marketing of personal care products made with organic ingredients. NSF/ANSI 305 is the only consensus-based standard for personal care products made with organic ingredients, meaning it was developed based on balanced participation from key stakeholder stakeholder n. a person having in his/her possession (holding) money or property in which he/she has no interest, right or title, awaiting the outcome of a dispute between two or more claimants to the money or property. groups, including organic personal care manufacturers, trade associations, regulators, organic program administrators, organic product retailers and others in the organic products community. The new standard allows" made with organic" claims for products that contain 70% or more organic ingredients and comply with all other requirements. Products covered by the standard include rinse-off and leave-on personal care and cosmetic cosmetic /cos·met·ic/ (koz-met´ik) 1. pertaining to cosmesis. 2. a beautifying substance or preparation. cos·met·ic n. products, as well as oral care and personal hygiene personal hygiene person n → Körperhygiene f products. The NSF 305 personal care logo will identify products that comply with this standard. |
