THERE is no link between the controversial MMR jab and autism or bowel inflammation, a new study shows.

Scientists who reviewed evidence suggesting the triple injection might cause the illnesses branded the original research "very weak".

Fears over MMR's safety have badly hit rates of uptake.

But the report in the Drugs and Therapeutics Bulletin concludes the jab gives children the best protection from measles, mumps and rubella.

Editor Professor Joe Collier said: "Providing individual vaccines as an alternative is not a sensible strategy."
