'Lifesaving' test for all.


A POTENTIALLY life-saving blood test for a rare condition is now being offered to newborn babies across England.

The following reaction is the oxidation of the fatty acid by FAD.
 Deficiency (MCADD MCADD Medium Chain Acyl-Coa Dehydrogenase Deficiency (an inherited error of fatty acid metabolism) ) can be easily managed once diagnosed but often the first sign is when the sufferer is taken seriously ill. The disorder affects the body's ability to break down fat for energy. Katy Frost had no idea she had MCADD until she collapsed during a school activity holiday. Katy, 13, was diagnosed and given life-saving treatment.

Her mother Cora Durkan, 46, from West Sussex West Sussex, nonmetropolitan county (1991 pop. 692,800), 768 sq mi (1,990 sq km), S England. A chalk ridge runs from the county's east to west edge. In the south the land flattens into a gentle plain. After early Roman invasions, the Saxons moved across Sussex. , said: "That's the reason for the screening programme, MCADD can kill."

Babies will be tested at five days old.
