McPhail's type of cancer, malt lymphoma, is a relatively rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma lymphoma, a cancer of the tissue of the lymphatic system. There are two categories of lymphomas. One type is termed Hodgkin's disease, the other, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (see lymphoma, non-Hodgkin's). See also neoplasm. .

It can occur at any age from early adulthood to old age, but is more common in people over 60. It is slightly more common in women than in men.

A stage one lymphoma means it has not spread to any other part of the body yet. Treatment can involve surgery, chemotherapy or the use of steroid drugs.
