'IT'S NOT EASY BEING GREEN' -- COLORFUL HALLOWEEN EPISODE MARKS
100TH SHOW MILESTONE FOR AWARD-WINNING 'EMPTY NEST' SERIES
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The award-winning hit comedy series "Empty Nest" reaches a milestone with the taping of its 100th episode, a special Halloween show called "It's Not Easy Being Green," airing Saturday, Oct. 31 at 9 p.m. on NBC.
In a colorful and bizarrely funny script written by Ursula Ziegler and Steve Sullivan and directed by James Widdoes, Carol Weston (Dinah Manoff) convinces her reluctant boyfriend Patrick Arcola (Paul Provenza) to go to a costume party. Carol dresses as Madame Curie, and Patrick comes as her discovery, the element radium. Completely covered in glow-in-the-dark green, Patrick's iridescence adds an "element" of danger to the evening when he and Carol find themselves stranded, with nowhere to hide, in a seedy and dangerous part of town.
Meanwhile, wicked witch Laverne (Park Overall) and Count Harry "Doc-ula" (Richard Mulligan) become frighteningly competitive over who can best terrify the neighborhood trick-or-treaters.
"It's Not Easy Being Green" also stars David Leisure as Charley Dietz and Bear as the Westons' lovable dog, Dreyfuss.
In celebration of the 100th episode milestone, the cast and crew of "Empty Nest" invited many of the show's past guest stars back for a gala event which took place at the Renmar studios immediately following the show's taping on Oct. 20.
In its fifth season, "Empty Nest" has been a consistent ratings success often finishing in the top ten. NBC has expressed such confidence in the continued strength of the show that it has renewed the show for 52 additional episodes over the next two television seasons.
"Empty Nest" is a Witt-Thomas-Harris Production in association with Touchstone Television. Paul Junger Witt, Tony Thomas, Susan Harris, Fred Freeman, Lawrence J. Cohen, Arnie Kogen and Robert LaZebnick are the executive producers. Roger Garrett is the co- executive producer, and Susan Harris is the creator.
Touchstone Television is a part of Walt Disney Pictures and Television.
