Donal, 30, from Killiney in Dublin, is back working as a senior mechanical engineer after being sent home from the show on Monday. But he said he is determined to make the best of To improve to the utmost; to use or dispose of to the greatest advantage. To reduce to the least possible inconvenience; as, to make the best of ill fortune or a bad bargain. - Bacon. See also: Best Best his time on The Apprentice by making contacts and networking. Donal added: "Of course I still like Bill - he did what he had to. He was mistaken but even Bill makes mistakes. "My girlfriend Anne-Marie suggested that I apply for the programme as it was something I always wanted to do. "I watched every series of the show from here and the UK and said I would love to do it. "I didn't think I was going to get on but I really like Bill Cullen and I would love to open businesses and learn from people like Bill and be mentored by him. "When I got through the interview process I thought it was a sign - I am a mechanical engineer working in a declining industry Declining Industry An industry where growth is either negative or is not growing at the broader rate of economic growth. There are many reasons for a declining industry: consumer demand may be steadily evaporating, the depletion of a natural resource may be occurring, or there may and this was maybe something different. "I felt I could go in and win it and I knew at least if I didn't win I could get something good out of it, being around great people in a business sense and increase my profile. This puts your name out there - people know who you are and it's a great ice-breaker." Donal said he only regrets his bust-up and behaviour during the ice-cream task in programme one. And he added he was glad to make it through another episode so the audience could see the lighter side of him. He admitted: "I got the hump a bit. I was petulant pet·u·lant adj. 1. Unreasonably irritable or ill-tempered; peevish. 2. Contemptuous in speech or behavior. [Latin petul and it was totally out of character - that is my only regret. "It was a lesson to be learned and I will never do it again - not on television nor in my own life. "I got on with everyone - I had a few run-ins with a couple of characters during the tasks but outside of those we were all enjoying the experience." And after his second stint in the boardroom ended in disaster, Donal said he did feel disappointed to be going so soon. He added: "I was disappointed that I lost the task, I was frustrated that I didn't get to show many of my capabilities as I would have liked to. "But I am very positive about the experience - I still think I shouldn't have been fired and that's a nice way to walk away from anything. "But I am happy that in the last episode I didn't appear too moody or too grumpy as I'm not like that. "And I'm happy people got to see a bit more of the real Donal. I am enjoying my five minutes of fame - I'm getting as much out of it as I can as it's not going to last for long. "Next week it's going to be someone else's turn so I'm using it while I've got it." As well as his career in engineering Donal owns part of a hair salon A hair salon (also called 'Hairdresser' and 'Hair Parlour')is a place where one goes to get their hair cut, as well as styled, highlighted or coloured. There are many different types of hair salons that one can choose to go to. with his girlfriend and two other partners. He said: "The salon is called Allure and it's in Deansgrange. "It's an Aveda hair salon and we do Aveda products and make-up but we also do tanning. "And we've just introduced a new product called The 12-Week Botox Blow Dry which keeps your hair looking freshly blow-dried for three months. You iron the treatment into your hair and it is full of enriching ingredients which relax your hair. And your hair will stay blow-dried looking for up to 12 weeks, rain or shine. "If you have frizzy hair this will make it look crisp, smooth and not dry." It's a far cry from engineering but Donal reckons there's no harm in trying something new. He said: "Everyone should have their fingers in a few different pies - when I am doing my engineering job I give 100% but I have a lot more to me. "I am interested in anything that will further me, anything I can learn from, anything that will increase my skills and of course anything that will make me money."
