'Human resources key to growth'.

DOHA As part of an initiative to build policy and strategy formulation capacity within the country and the region with regard to the food security, the Ministry of Environment is organising a workshop at the Ministry of Environment headquarter. The workshop under the auspices of Minister of Environment HE Abdullah bin Mubarak bin Aaboud al Midhadhi and organised by the Ministry in collaboration of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) began on Sunday. It is focussing on a number of issues related to the design and evaluation of development projects, development challenges, the various alternative options and the food security strategy in the State of Qatar. Participants will review IFAD's most important programs in the Middle East and North Africa, and aspects of the fund's cooperation with Qatar. Some projects of the trainees will be discussed during the workshop. The schedule also includes two field visits to projects under construction. The visits are sponsored either by of the public or the private sector. Addressing the opening of the workshop, Director of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Environment Walid Mohammed al Emadi highlighted the importance of the topics that will be discussed during the workshop. He expressed gratitude to the International Fund for Agricultural Development for its ongoing support to training of national cadres in the field of projects. "The Ministry of Environment attaches great importance to the development of national human resources as an important motive for sustainable agricultural development," al Emadi added. He pointed out that this training workshop is the result of a joint action and effective cooperation between the Ministry of Environment and the IFAD. Representative of the Qatar National Food Security Program Dr Hamad Saad Majid al Saad praised the collaboration between the Ministry of Environment and the IFAD to ensure food security for Qatar. He hailed the continued support of HE the Minister of Environment for the program. Meanwhile, Director of Regional Communication and Information at International Fund for Agricultural Development Tayseer al Ghanim said the training workshop is part of IFAD's initiative to raise the level of national capacity in Qatar and the Gulf region in order to provide an environment to the development of policies and strategies in addressing the problem of food security in the developing countries and those with high income. He pointed out that the Gulf countries including Qatar, are founders of IFAD, and its partners for thirty years.
