'Google should pay for news'.


THE heads of two major world news organisations said it was time for internet search engines and others who use news content for free to pay for it.

The comments from Tom Curley Tom Curley is the current president and chief executive officer of the Associated Press - one of the most powerful men in media. Curley is also a former president, publisher, and one of the co-creators of USA Today.  of The Associated Press and Rupert Rupert, 1352–1410, German king (1400–1410), elector palatine of the Rhine. He was elected German king after the deposition of Wenceslaus. Seeking the imperial crown, Rupert went to Italy.  Murdoch of News Corporation, came as the media industry struggles in the internet age.

Many news companies say that sites such as Google (Google, Mountain View, CA, www.google.com) The largest search engine on the Web, founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, two Stanford University students. In 1996, they developed their "BackRub" search engine, named after its unique page ranking method (explained below).  have reaped a fortune off their articles, photos and video without fairly compensating those producing the material.
