'GAME OVER': LOW REPLAY VALUE.

IN UPN'S NEW computer-animated comedy ``Game Over,'' the Smashenburns are your typical nuclear cyber-family. Father Rip (voiced by Patrick Warburton) works in a race-car computer game and mother Raquel (Lucy Liu) is a spy/tomb raider in another. Son Billy (E.G. Daily) is a likable loser into extreme sports, and daughter Alice (Rachel Dratch) is the politically correct family radical, rebelling against her computer-game world. Like any family, they try to keep up with the disapproving ninjas next door.

``Game Over's'' main - sometimes its only - joke is that these exotic characters actually live lives as humdrum as our own, which is a fairly inspired conceit. Unfortunately, this means that they end up living the same lame family sitcom plots every other TV character must endure - Dad feels inadequate to his overachiever wife; Mom tries to shake her workaholism to help her son with a school project with disastrous results; Dad frets over his daughter's new boyfriend.

Visually, the show is fun, and there are some bright moments - Mom gets picketed by protesters decrying her desecration of sacred tombs; when Alice enlightens teen girls about being objectified, they end up playing volleyball in burqas. But the conventional nature of the plotting might not appeal to the younger audiences at whom it's aimed - despite the presence of Turbo (Artie Lange), the obnoxious pet who indulges freely in booze and stogies and sneaks peaks at mom's cosines and parabolas in the shower. And more conventional sitcom viewers aren't likely to venture over to UPN in the first place.
