'Exceptional' gold grades on the island: ThomWatch

A small gold and uranium miner profiled in our Ticker Trax by Thom Calandra says it has unearthed evidence of a streak of thick gold in fresh drilling on its Vancouver Island vein, not far from the rustic town of Port Alberni.

Bitterroot Resources’ (TSX: V.BTT, Stock Forum) drilling returned grades at an average of eight ounces of gold per ton and as much as 29 ounces a ton. Mike Carr’s Ember vein on a property it owns 55% is “exceptional,” one highly noted gold expert tells me. The rich grades compare to larger deposits at Canada’s Red Lake in Balmertown, northern Ontario, at Bema Gold’s Russia property and at Barrick’s Eskay Creek in northern British Columbia.

Carr, Bitterfroot’s CEO, has been running the tiny Canadian company since the early 1990s and recently completed a small flow-through financing to keep the lights on at gold, silver and uranium projects in British Columbia, the U.S. state of Michigan and Canada’s Quebec.

What might set the Bitterroot property on Vancouver Island in British Columbia apart from other high-grade drilling one sees occasionally in company updates is the ease with which Carr says the rock can be turned to gold.

Indeed, Carr tells Ticker Trax, at length, that he already has arranged gold sales that will take place before the end of 2008.

“The numbers speak for themselves; they are exceptional,” Robert Bishop, the former newsletter editor of Gold Mining Stock Report, tells me.
