'ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT' AND TV GUIDESPONSOR JOINT TELEVISION OPINION POLLS

 HOLLYWOOD, Oct. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Paramount Domestic Television's "Entertainment Tonight" and News America Publishing Inc.'s TV Guide will commission public opinion surveys on various television topics, it was announced jointly by Jim Van Messel, executive producer of "Entertainment Tonight," and Anthea Disney, editor-in-chief of TV Guide.
 Recently, "Entertainment Tonight" and TV Guide released the results of their first joint survey regarding viewer opinions on "NYPD Blue," the controversial new series on ABC-TV. In that survey, 67 percent of those who watched the premiere episode of "NYPD Blue" said they intend to watch the show again. About 40 percent of those polled were offended by the show's nudity, violence and explicit language.
 "TV Guide, the foremost print authority on television, is a natural match for `Entertainment Tonight,' television's leading entertainment news and information program," said Van Messel. "We are thrilled to work with a publication that is held in such high regard by both consumers and those of us who work in television."
 "Cooperation between TV Guide and `Entertainment Tonight,' the primary forces in entertainment news, gives an added boost to this joint effort," notes Disney. "This relationship gives us the opportunity to be on the cutting edge of monitoring public opinion of current issues."
 The two news organizations will jointly release results of upcoming surveys, which will be conducted by an independent research firm.
 Currently in its unprecedented 13th season, "Entertainment Tonight" is produced by Paramount Domestic Television in association with Cox Broadcasting. Van Messel is executive producer.
