'Drunk' pilot is cleared because he was on a diet.


A PILOT arrested on suspicion of being over the alcohol limit was cleared yesterday after it was found that heavy dieting had caused his breath to smell of drink.

Test results of the 47 year-old Virgin Atlantic employee revealed that the level of alcohol in his blood was "consistent with that of a non-drinker".

The pilot was arrested and pulled from a Heathrow flight to New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
 last Saturday Saturday: see week; Sabbath.  after being breathalysed by police.

But despite initial breath test results indicating that he was over the limit, blood samples showed the amount of alcohol in his system was minimal.

Studies show heavy dieting can produce high levels of acetone acetone (ăs`ĭtōn), dimethyl ketone (dīmĕth`əl kē`tōn), or 2-propanone (prō`pənōn), CH3COCH3  in the body which is converted into a secondary alcohol.

He has not been charged.
