'Death trap' bosses fined.


BOSSES of a used car dealership have been fined a total of pounds 4,000 after undercover officers caught them selling a death trap death trap

Gurdip Singh Virdi and Martin James Pittaway, of MG Motor Group, in Wheelright Lane, Ash Green, near Coventry, pleaded guilty to offences under Section 75 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, after they tried off-loading a car with a faulty handbrake.

They were each fined pounds 2,000 and ordered to pay pounds 1,250 towards costs at Warwick Magistrates' Court.

Undercover officers bought the P registration Fiat Punto ELX Elx, Spain: see Elche.  from MG Motor Group after seeing it listed in Autotrader in September 2008 as "super value and a nice drive", at pounds 695.
