Last year he married. His wife had nothing to do with us breaking up and gets on well with my daughter.

But when they saw my daughter off yesterday she said, "Bye daddy, bye mummy". It was like a knife through my heart. Do I take it up with my ex?

A YES, I think you do. It's possible it was just a one-off and your daughter was tired after a busy day and not thinking about what she was saying.

But this is one of those issues which those in you and your ex's situation need to get sorted.

After all, when you're in a new relationship, I doubt your ex would like another man being called "daddy". So have a chat and work out something, but keep it civil.
