'DETROIT NEWSPAPERS' NEW NAME FOR DETROIT NEWSPAPER AGENCY

DETROIT, May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- "Detroit Newspapers" is the new name of the Detroit company which handles the advertising, distribution, production and marketing of The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press, Susie Miles, vice president/Marketing Services, and Frank Vega, president and CEO, announced today.
Detroit Newspapers will continue to use the designation of "Detroit Newspaper Agency" in legal matters, but will do business as "Detroit Newspapers."
Detroit Newspapers was created when the joint operating agreement between The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press was approved in November 1989.
The company is also modifying its logo, using bolder lines in a graphic that suggests the flow of newsprint through presses.
"We believe the stronger visual and shorter name is more descriptive of our identity in relation to the two newspapers," said Miles and Vega.
"During the last two years we've worked hard to improve newspaper production and distribution. Our new company identity is reflective of our commitment to better serve newspaper readers and our advertisers through technological innovation and marketing strategies. We have also extended our involvement as a member of the Detroit-area business community. Our new name heightens awareness of that presence," said Miles and Vega.
