'Cure' for dandruff.

DANDRUFF dandruff, excessive flaking of skin from the scalp, apparent as dry or greasy diffuse scaling with variable itching. It is the sign of a skin disease, such as seborrhea or a fungal infection.  may be curable, claim scientists who have decoded the DNA DNA: see nucleic acid.
DNA
 or deoxyribonucleic acid

One of two types of nucleic acid (the other is RNA); a complex organic compound found in all living cells and many viruses. It is the chemical substance of genes.
of the fungus that causes it.

On most scalps there are 10million fungii called malassezia globosa which feeds on oils on the head.

Scientists found the fungus produces an enzyme called lipases which triggers a turnover of skin cells leading to dandruff.

Half the population has it and pounds 4.5billion is spent globally on antidandruff shampoos which control but do not cure.

Scientists said it would enable them to target treatment more precisely.
