'AMERICAN CRAFTS WITH PHYLLIS GEORGE' TO PREMIERE ON QVC

WEST CHESTER, Pa., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Phyllis George, national honorary chairperson for the Year of American Craft, will be a guest on QVC Network.
Ms. George will join QVC Program Host Jeff Hewson for a three-hour live special on Saturday, Jan. 23, from 9 p.m. to midnight ET. The televised shopping program will be devoted entirely to handmade American crafts.
"American Crafts with Phyllis George" will include videotaped footage of Ms. George's historic Kentucky home, Cave Hill Place. This special will showcase a variety of handmade crafts ranging in price from about $20 to $1,400. Among the items featured will be one-of-a-kind decorative jackets made from vintage quilts; hand-blown glass bowls; stoneware bowls; baskets; dolls and quilts, as well as decorative and functional wood pieces.
Ms. George has had a lifelong interest in creative work by hand and has been active in crafts marketing and collecting for many years. She authored "Kentucky Crafts: Handmade and Heartfelt" and is currently working on a second book, "Craft in America," a commemorative book for the Year of American Craft 1993.
"I've always been intrigued by anything made by hand," said Ms. George. "QVC's programs help introduce millions of other people to the beauty of fine American crafts and to the talented artisans who create them."
QVC, the nation's largest cable shopping channel, is transmitted live, 24-hours a day, seven days a week, and currently reaches more than 42 million homes via cable, and 3 million homes with satellite dishes, from coast to coast.
