 pleaded guilty yesterday in a deal that could jail him for more than 50 years.

Michael Mastromarino, 44, and his gang made at least pounds 2.3million selling bones from corpses for use in 10,000 transplant ops around the world - about 40 of them in Britain.

Mastromarino told a judge he forged records, including times of death and ages, and switched blood and tissue samples.

He admitted a string of charges including corruption, body stealing, larceny and forgery.

Prosecutors said under the deal he is helping investigate firms that bought the stolen tissue.

He faces between 18 and 54 years and a pounds 2.97million fine when sentenced in May. One other man has also pleaded guilty and two more face trial.
