''Steps of Hope'' Child Abuse Prevention Month Ceremony with Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey and the Massachusetts Children's Trust Fund.

 Kerry Healey Kerry Murphy Healey, Ph.D. (born April 30, 1960) was the 70th Lieutenant Governor of the U.S. state of Massachusetts. She served from 2003 to 2007 with Governor Mitt Romney.  will present the Governor's proclamation declaring the month of April to be Child Abuse Prevention Month on Thursday, April 13, at 12:30 p.m. at the foot of the front steps of the Massachusetts State House The Massachusetts State House, also called the New State House, is the state capitol and seat of government of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. It is located at Boston in the Beacon Hill neighborhood.  in Boston. She will present the proclamation to Suzin Bartley, LICSW LICSW Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker , executive director of the Children's Trust Fund. The ceremony will take place in front of a compelling backdrop of 700 pairs of children's shoes, donated by Stride Rite, which will symbolically represent the average number of Massachusetts children abused or neglected in one week in this state. Massachusetts has the third highest rate of confirmed cases of child abuse and neglect in the nation, behind Florida and Alaska.
12:30 p.m. - The ceremony's speaking program begins
10:00 a.m. - The installation of the 700 pairs of Stride Rite shoes by
             volunteers begins.

) is organizing this event to publicly remind citizens about the child abuse crisis in Massachusetts and engage them to take steps to take action; to move in a matter.

The short speaking program will include remarks from Lieutenant Governor Healey; CTF Executive Director Suzin Bartley; Yaritza Lopez, a former Healthy Families participant and current Home Visitor; and Kathy Litel, Senior Vice President of Merchandising at Stride Rite.

The "Steps of Hope" represents the hope and belief that Massachusetts can and will prevent child abuse and neglect by supporting parents and strengthening families. Volunteers who arrange the shoes will wear CTF t-shirts that read, "Making every step a child takes a safe one." Simultaneously, the Children's Trust Fund is launching a statewide positive-parenting campaign, One Tough Job, that acknowledges the stresses, demands and challenges of parenting and offers online tips and info for parents on its new website, aptly named onetoughjob.org.
