Multi-chain UK-based convenience store retailer selects JDA's client/server merchandising system to help lower costs, increase gross

margins and improve service to customers

JDA(R) Software Group Inc. (Nasdaq: JDAS) Wednesday announced that T&S Stores Plc, a UK-based convenience store retailer with annual revenue in excess of $U.S. 1.4 billion, is underway with the implementation of its client/server corporate headquarters system, Open DataBase Merchandising System(TM) (ODBMS(R)).

With the acquisition of three convenience store chains between 1996 and 1999, T&S, which licensed ODBMS in first quarter 2000, currently operates a convenience store chain of 900 branches, 165 high street discount stores and 250 neighborhood news stands.

Dean Moore, Group Finance Director for T&S, said that the retailer selected ODBMS to support its rapid growth. "ODBMS' advanced client/server technology will provide us with the flexibility and scalability to centrally manage the company, geographical and product hierarchies for each of our chains.

"As a result, we will be able to heighten operational performance in the service we provide to our customers, achieve lower inventory costs and increase gross margins as we pursue additional expansion opportunities," stated Moore.

According to Moore, the quality of the ODBMS product was not the only reason that T&S selected JDA.
