New York City

City (pop., 2000: 8,008,278), southeastern New York, at the mouth of the Hudson River. The largest city in the U.S.
 will get a $6 million slice of an $8 million package of grants announced by Governor George George, river, c.345 mi (560 km) long, rising in a lake on the Quebec-Labrador boundary, E Canada. It flows N through Indian Lake (125 sq mi/324 sq km) to Ungava Bay (an arm of Hudson Strait).  E. Pataki announced more than $8 million to investigate and clean up environmental contamination.

New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
 State, Brownfields offer tremendous opportunities to protect our precious open spaces and natural resources while promoting new economic development and job creation within our communities. These grants will provide local governments with the resources they need to reclaim and redevelop re·de·vel·op

The grants include more than $6.6 million for remediation of the Barretto Point site in the Bronx.
