$65m campus for university.

A NEW $65 million Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland-Medical University of Bahrain Bahrain or Bahrein (both: bärān`, bə–), officially Kingdom of Bahrain, constitutional monarchy and archipelago (2005 est. pop. 688,300), 266 sq mi (689 sq km), in the Persian Gulf.  (RCSI-MUB) campus in Busaiteen Busaiteen (Arabic: البسيتين) is a Bahraini football club based in Busaiteen. They play in the top division in Bahraini football. , officially opens today. A high-profile event marking the occasion will be attended by Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and Irish president Mary McAleese.

RCSI-MUB Board chairman Dr Faisal Al Moosawi said more such universities were needed in Bahrain due to the rapid growth of the healthcare sector.

"The university has facilities to teach 2,000 students in its new Muharraq campus. It will offer admissions to Bahrainis, GCC GCC: see Gulf Cooperation Council.

He said 90 per cent of the students in the university's nursing school and 40pc in its medical school were Bahrainis.

"This will further help meet the demand for medical professionals in the country, with more Bahrainis willing to enter the field," said Dr Al Mousawi.

RCSI-MUB president Kevin O'Malley said the first batch of doctors and nurses to serve in Bahrain hospitals would be graduating by June, 2010.

Ms Al Mohandis said the university fees was 50pc less than their main campus based in Dublin, Ireland.

"Here, a student has to spend BD13,000 per year to obtain a bachelors degree from the medical school and to complete the programme a student needs six years," she said.

The RCSI-MUB opened its first campus in Seef District in 2004 at a ceremony attended by the Premier and Ireland Prime Minister Bertie Ahern.

The new campus is part of the King Hamad Medical City, which will feature the Bahrain Health Oasis and the King Hamad General Hospital.

The Irish community in Bahrain will have an opportunity to meet President McAleese at a reception held at the Ritz-Carlton Bahrain Hotel and Spa at 4.30pm.
