$638,000 Contract Awarded to Enhance LAX Property Bordering Playa del Rey.


LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 16, 1999--

The Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Board of Airport Commissioners today awarded a contract for $638,291 to Tapuz Enterprises, Reseda, to landscape and create a park-like setting on Los Angeles International Airport “LAX” redirects here. The contract calls for landscaping, construction of new meandering sidewalks, installation of an irrigation irrigation, in agriculture, artificial watering of the land. Although used chiefly in regions with annual rainfall of less than 20 in. (51 cm), it is also used in wetter areas to grow certain crops, e.g., rice.  system using reclaimed water and airport fencing on LAX property along the south side of Waterview and Napoleon streets between Pershing Drive and Vista Del Mar.

The project began two years ago when LAWA staff met with Waterview Street residents and Councilmember Galanter's office to discuss enhancing and maintaining the property. Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-December and to be completed next spring.
