The second annual Life Time Fitness 10K will kick off on Saturday, May 25, 2002, at 9:00am. With an exciting course that runs through Downtown Minneapolis and along the Mississippi River, the event will begin and end at the Minneapolis Life Time Athletic Club at 615 2nd Avenue South (between 6th and 7th Streets).

The Life Time Fitness 10K, which brings an overall professional and amateur prize purse of $50,000, is expected to draw participants from across the United States and around the world. Additionally, the event has been selected as the 2002 USA Track & Field (USATF) Minnesota Road Race Championship for 10K. With this distinction, USATF Team championships will be awarded to the top male and female open teams as well as the top male and female masters' teams. The first through fifth male and female open teams have a chance to win up to $1,000.

As with the Life Time Fitness Triathlon set for July 20, the event will feature, "The Equalizer," a unique timing structure that allows professional women and men to compete on equal ground. Based on current World, American 10K and other 10K road race records, The Equalizer allows pro women to start ahead of pro men by a predetermined amount of time, resulting in a new and innovative competition format that will add to the excitement and drama of the Life Time Fitness 10K event.

Race day registration begins at 6:30am and the award ceremony will take place following the event at 10:30am, also at the Minneapolis Life Time Athletic Club. Entry fees are as follows:

-- $25.00 on day of race, Saturday, May 25
