$42m renovation starts in lobby at 1440 Broadway.


First impressions count, and that's why W&H Properties is spending millions of dollars to upgrade the lobbies of the nine buildings in its portfolio. The latest one to commence its lobby renovation is 1400 Broadway Broadway, famous thoroughfare in New York City. It extends from Bowling Green near the foot of Manhattan island N to 262d St. in the Bronx. The renovations include new entrance doors and canopy, a curved new ceiling, new lighting, a new security desk with concierge services, an additional security desk at the Broadway entrance and controlled after-hours access, according to according to

"Everything will be state-of-the-art," says Zeller. "The lobby is going to be just as impressive as the recently renovated lobbies at 1359 Broadway and 501 Seventh Avenue, both of which are W&H buildings and recent winners of BOMA/NY Pinnacle pinnacle (pĭn`ĭkəl), minor architectural motif of vertical tapering shape, usually crowning a pier, buttress, or gable. Although sometimes it appears in Renaissance design, as in the Certosa di Pavia, it is almost exclusively a medieval  Awards for Best Renovated Building."

The lobby renovations are only the first phase of a major capital improvements program at 1400 Broadway, totaling more than $42 million. Subsequent phases will include renovations of the bathrooms and public corridors, installation of new windows and HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) In the home or small office with a handful of computers, HVAC is more for human comfort than the machines. In large datacenters, a humidity-free room with a steady, cool temperature is essential for the trouble-free  systems, and upgrades of other building systems.

"1400 Broadway has always been a top destination for leading fashion-related companies in Times Square South," notes Zeller.

"But the renovations will bring the property to a Class-A level while solidifying so·lid·i·fy

Situated in the Times Square South district, 1400 Broadway contains 37 stories and more than 900,000 s/f. The building is owned by 1400 Broadway Associates, L.L.C, a partnership led by Peter L. Malkin.
