 history. It should still open with a splash in June.

That's the word from Ted Kohl, president of Herbert Construction Company, which is building the $20 million Asphalt Green Swim, Sports Training Sports training refers to specialized strategies and methods of exercise used in various sports to develop athletes and prepare them for performing in sporting events. Sports training methods  and Rehabilitation Center overlooking the F.D.R. Drive at 555 East 90th Street in Manhattan. The centerpiece of the fivestory, wavy shaded building will be the city's first Olympic-length indoor pool designed to teach, train and delight every type of swimmer from gold medal hopefuls to the disabled and elderly.

At 170 feet long, 60 feet wide and up to 16 feet deep, the 50-meter pool, which is big enough for international competitions, is state-of-the-art in every respect from its computerized filtration and surge systems to its hydraulically raisable floor that can create a teaching section with access for wheelchairs. According to Asphalt Green, Inc. chairman Albert Zesiger, whose private, non-profit organization is developing the AquaCenter in partnership with New York City, over a quarter million swimmers are expected to use the pool annually.

Also housed in the building, designed by New York New York, state, United States

It also encompasses a regulation Astro Turf playing field with a perimeter running track; DeKovat's Park, a children's playground; outdoor basketball courts; and the Sundial sundial, instrument that indicates the time of day by the shadow, cast on a surface marked to show hours or fractions of hours, of an object on which the sun's rays fall.  Plaza.
