$20,000 REWARD OFFERED.

Byline: Amy Raisin Staff Writer

CASTAIC - More than a week after Gloria ``Chris'' Cole disappeared on her way home from work, a $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to her safe return, authorities said.

Last seen on Aug. 2 boarding a bus in downtown Los Angeles Downtown Los Angeles is the central business district of Los Angeles, California, located close to the geographic center of the metropolitan area. The sprawling, multi-centered megacity is such that its downtown core is often considered just another district like Hollywood or  where she works at a law firm, Cole was reported missing after she failed to show up to work for two days.

by it,'' said Barbara Upchurch, a co-worker who occasionally saw Cole on the commuter bus to and from the law firm where they both work as secretaries.

According to her employers - who posted the reward - the 13-year employee rarely misses work, and failing to call in is out of character.

Also missing is Cole's live-in companion, who is known as David Cole or David Chen, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department This article is about the Los Angeles County Sherriff's Department, not to be confused with the smaller Los Angeles County Police

Authorities said the man is not a suspect, but they want to talk to him because he may have information that could aid police in the investigation.

``Right now he's missing also. It could just be a coincidence, or they may have met with foul play,'' said Deputy Ron Bottomley of the Sheriff's Headquarters bureau in Los Angeles. ``We just don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

Cole, 5-foot-4-inches tall and about 110 pounds, has a scar on her neck and recently dyed her red hair blond, authorities said. She was last seen wearing a black dress, boarding a Santa Clarita-bound bus at 3rd and Flower streets in downtown Los Angeles.

Her car, a teal 1992 Ford Thunderbird with California license plate 2ZPF ZPF Zero Point Field 982, is missing from her Castaic home.

Authorities said newspapers were piled up in front of her home, and Cole's two beloved dogs were left unattended.

``Everyone at work knew that those dogs were like her children,'' said Bill Reid, the chief financial officer at the offices of Parker, Milliken, Clark, O'Hara and Samuelian, where Cole works. ``In fact Chris didn't come to the company picnic at Knott's Berry Farm Knott's Berry Farm is a brand name of two separate entities: a theme park in Buena Park, California, and a manufacturer of food specialty products (primarily jams and preserves) based in Placentia, California.  because she had just got one of the dogs and didn't want to leave it alone,'' Reid said.

``We hope the reward will help with any information,'' Reid added. ``Chris is one of the family here and this is very unsettling un·set·tle
