The protesters sued for civil rights violations, alleging they were held in jail after a judge ordered them released. The female protesters also alleged they were illegally strip-searched. The settlement puts Sheriff Lee Baca's department almost $1 million over its $12.6 million budget for settlements and legal judgments this fiscal year.
