$2 million, 5-year SAS Grant Gives Baylor University Students, Faculty Increased Access to Software.

Five-year grant provides significant new technology

SAS Institute, the market leader in e-intelligence and data warehousing software and services, today announced a five-year, $2 million software grant to Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

The grant reduces usage costs for faculty, staff and students by providing access to various SAS(R) software and other applications designed to streamline administrative tasks and help faculty and staff members with their teaching and research.

"This grant allows Baylor University to utilize the outstanding SAS software to further research, extend the learning experiences of students, and demonstrate the significant decision value that SAS e-intelligence and data warehousing software can provide to institutions of higher education," said Reagan Ramsower, Ph.D., chief information officer of Baylor University. "We will be working closely through our SAS partnership to integrate the SAS software into our research and curriculum, and to implement administrative e-intelligence solutions that will enhance our institutional knowledge."

This is the fifth grant provided by SAS this year to higher education institutions. The first grant was a five-year, $3 million grant to the 16 campuses of the University of North Carolina school system. This grant was followed by a three-year, $1 million dollar grant to North Carolina State University, the alma mater Dr. Jim Goodnight, chairman and CEO of SAS. The third grant was made to the University of California's ten-campus system for $1 million over the next three years and the fourth, a $1 million three-year grant, was given to Pennsylvania State University.
