The City Council approved the expenditure Tuesday night.

The streets were chosen for repair by a city computer program that tracks road conditions.

In a separate action, the council also approved $560,000 to widen and reconstruct Justin Avenue, from San Fernando Road San Fernando Road is a major street in the city and county of Los Angeles. It starts off in Castaic as The Old Road, passing through Santa Clarita and the Newhall Pass, where upon its intersection with Sierra Highway near the junction of the Golden State (I-5) and the  to Glenoaks Boulevard.

Justin Avenue is only 28 feet wide and often has cars parked on both sides. Drivers have a hard time getting through.

The widening project will extend the street by 4 feet on each side to the recommended width of 36 feet. New sidewalks, curbs and gutters will be constructed, as well as new trees planted and street lights installed.

During street construction, Le Blanc said crews are always asked to maintain some lanes open in each direction.

No construction date has been set for either project.
