$1M bail for SF mayor's alleged stalkerA man accused of stalking San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom was ordered held on $1 million bail Monday following his arraignment on unrelated charges. Han Shin, 42, is charged with breaking into a former lover's house and trying to run over the ex-lover's roommate when he followed Shin outside. Shin did not enter a formal plea in Contra Costa Superior Court, but spoke up when a judge asked if he wanted to be assigned a public defender. "I would like to state my innocence, because I'm not guilty," said Shin, who faces charges of burglary, assault with a deadly weapon and felony vandalism stemming from the Feb. 28 altercation. The incident happened a week after a judge in San Francisco issued a temporary restraining order requiring Shin to stay away from Newsom. The city attorney sought the protective order after Shin tried to talk his way into the mayor's apartment and photographs of Newsom were found in his car. A court hearing on the restraining order is scheduled for Wednesday.
