The building is part of a $151 million expansion effort at the medical center at 501 S. Buena Vista St.

There, a 200,000-square-foot Northeast building will house a laboratory, imaging department, surgical wing, intensive care, obstetrics obstetrics (ŏbstĕ`trĭks), branch of medicine concerned with the treatment of women during pregnancy, labor, childbirth (see birth), and the time after childbirth.  and neonatal units, as well as 128 private patient rooms.
