$10 MILLION SET FOR OLYMPIC-SIZE POOL FUNDS EARMARKED FOR LONG-AWAITED AQUATIC CENTER PROJECT IN CASTAIC.Byline: SUE DOYLE Staff Writer CASTAIC -- After 12 years of waiting, the Castaic Sports Complex is now set to have an Olympic-size pool. A total of $10 million was earmarked toward the new aquatic center last week during budget hearings with the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is the five member governing board of Los Angeles County, California. Currently, they're using the Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country, Aquatic Center and a pool in Newhall in lieu of having their own facility. Plans for the new aquatic center also include an additional $350,000 toward splash pads -- a wet playground where water shoots from the pavement, from cannons and from fountains.
