$1.2 Million Contract With Shenzhen Airport Authority Places Unisys Airport Passenger Processing System In Three of China's Top Four Airports.


BLUE BELL, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 7, 1998--Unisys Corp. Tuesday announced that it has signed a contract worth more than $1.2 million with China's Shenzhen Airport Authority to provide the Unisys Airport Passenger Processing System (APPS).

The solution will be installed at Shenzhen Airport, which will be China's fourth-largest airport when completed in early 1999.

The installation of APPS at Shenzhen is expected to begin in fourth quarter 1998. Once implemented, the Unisys APPS solution will be operational in three of China's four largest airports - Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen.

). APPS is an automated method of incorporating PC-based tools to assist agents with passenger processing.

APPS enables agents to quickly complete reservations and departure control processes. With APPS, agents can retrieve customer information in seconds and check in passengers and baggage more efficiently.

"APPS will help us improve airport processes now and position us for growth in the future."

APPS will increase check-in and passenger boarding efficiency, while reducing check-in errors and training costs. With the integration of APPS into the Automatic Baggage Sortation Identifying objects that are stamped with a bar code and routing them to the appropriate destination. Sortation is typically a high-speed process used in the transportation industry by companies such as Federal Express, UPS and others.
