The Board of Supervisors is the body governing counties in the U.S.
 on Tuesday Tuesday: see week.  voted 4-0 to adopt a $1.2 billion spending plan for 2002-03.

The county closed a $17.6 million gap by reducing spending by 4.2 percent among all departments, except for public safety departments, where spending increases were increased by 2.1 percent.

Notes:
Shortfall risk is often combated with an efficient hedging strategy created by a fund, group, institution, or individual.
 by not funding 44 unfilled job positions.

The county budget, however, doesn't include a potential loss of million of dollars in state funding as Sacramento prepares to close its $26 billion state deficit.
